Meet Dr. Sam Wertheimer
Dr. Sam Wertheimer is a licensed clinical psychologist and relational psychotherapist with expertise in child and family psychology. Her practice is located in the Rittenhouse Square neighborhood of Philadelphia, PA.
Dr. Sam’s approach to psychotherapy prioritizes the therapeutic relationship and the ways in which it can be used to help you, your child, or your family make positive change. While her area of specialty is child, adolescent, and family psychology, she works individually with adults, as well. Her training uniquely equips her to work with people across the lifespan.
Dr. Sam received her doctorate in clinical psychology from Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia, and she completed her advanced training at WellSpan Philhaven Hospital in Mount Gretna, Pennsylvania. Dr. Sam has taught at the graduate level, and has published psychoanalytic research on grief and bereavement. She is a credentialed Registered Health Service Psychologist, and holds Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT), which allows her to offer virtual services in over 35 different states.

Meet Emily Israel, M.S.
Emily Israel is a fifth year doctoral student in Clinical Psychology and a relational psychotherapist working under Dr. Sam’s clinical supervision.
Emily has a passion for working with children, adolescents, and their families, and she cares deeply about providing a space where they feel supported in navigating the reflective process of change. She works collaboratively with clients as they build confidence in their ability to respond to emotions and have their needs met effectively. As a therapist, Emily uses both psychodynamic techniques and evidence-based approaches to best support the needs of each individual client.
Emily received her Masters degree in Clinical and Counseling Psychology from Chestnut Hill College in 2020. Her doctoral training includes intensive clinical experience working in schools, community-based outpatient programs, inpatient psychiatric hospitals, and in private practice. She has experience working with neurodivergence, neurodevelopmental concerns, mood symptoms, anxiety symptoms, body image, and behavioral concerns.
Emily offers both psychotherapy and psychological assessment services under Dr. Sam’s supervision.
